Brand name 2

If you take a close look at the list of the most valuable brands in the world that mass media released, what would you find out? Yes, you know most of them because they’re famous brands. On the other hand, the fact revealed is that consumers is major target market for all of these well-known companies.  By building the brand name and reputation on end users, these companies are able to attract more new users and maintain the loyalty from old customers.

So how about the companies that majorly target at entreprise market? For example, construction companies,  telecom vendors (supporting operators to roll out the network). They may have less recognition from the public but for sure they could be one of the Fortune 500 companies.

All the rankings have their own criterias that show different perspectives. And they have to be unique to others otherwise no value and reason to be published.  In terms of MBA ranking, there are 3 most-used rankings published respectively by US News, Business Week and Finacial Time.  No right or wrong about these 3 rankings since they use their own criterias. So we must understand the logic behind the ranking in order to make good use of (or refer) them. My advice is that don’t buy that totally. Use your own mind and heart to figure out your own ranking which is best fit to you.

I have my own ranking and know which schools i’m going to apply. I feel they’re my best fits and certainly they’re not for everyone.

Brand name

Today i chatted with one client who did his MBA 10 years ago. His idea about MBA is that in fact MBA is a brand name of you. It’s like a stamp on you or even joke a little bit “you are make in ?”.  Futher, I talked about my plan and he gave me some advices.  But things has changed quite a lot in 10 years.

He mentioned i’m working in a rising company which is getting brand name. In fact I didn’t realize that strongly. Yes, it’s true that  my current employer is the most respectful high-tech company in China and has most successful records in globalization of its business.  But how about the employees’ satisfaction? How about career prospective? So i start to question about how to evaluate the brand name. What’s the most valuable brand in the world? How would my current company compare to these well-known companies?

I’ll spend some time on this topic and hope to get more to share in a few days.
